President Eisenhower wins NATO backing for European missile bases and stockpiles after tense talks. He plans to return to Washington around 6:30 a.m. and will address the nation with Dulles on Monday night.
The Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co announces a $20 million fiber glass plant to be built in Cleveland County near Washburn Switch five miles from Shelby. The project costs total about $20 million with ground breaking planned in January. It will employ about 1,000 workers, with land options near 135 acres and water sewer lines funded by a $415,000 county bond. A Raleigh announcement followed, and construction decisions await further details.
Cape Canaveral reports a Jupiter IRBM launch that appeared successful from ignition to burnout after about four minutes but the Defense Department said the rocket failed to complete its full flight due to technical difficulties. The test highlighted U S missile development amid rapid deemphasized Soviet parity efforts.

Stills found about 20 miles north of the city near the Harnett County line.
In Raleigh two men accused of robbing the Angier Bank of $33,000 on November 25 were expected to plead guilty in court. A spokesman noted that $200 of the stolen funds had been recovered and the trial was set for this afternoon.

Norwegian Premier Gerhard Gerhardsen, West German Chancellor Adenauer, and British PM Macmillan push for open doors to Soviet talks and cautious missile timing while NATO arms up against the Viet threat.
Sen. Humphrey criticized the NATO agreement on missile bases in Europe as face saving and questioned progress from the Paris summit. He noted skepticism shared by Sen. Sparkman and Sen. Arkansas, while Sen. Curtis urged dropping arms talks with the Soviets as a waste of time for the Western powers.
President Eisenhower said NATO summit decisions should reduce the chance of war and strengthen unity with allies. He spoke of leaving with mixed emotions, but confidence in a stronger North Atlantic Alliance, as he prepared to fly to Washington. He was told his health remained stable under supervision.
