Thomasville junior varsity basketball defeated Davie Canty 60 to 49 on Friday. Jeff Polle scored 15 points and KG Hanner added 10 while le, a 6 5 center, pulled down 16 rebounds. Jayvees sit 3-1 in conference and 4-2 overall.

Jamestown Junior High edged Allen Junior High of Greensboro 58 12 Friday with seven pins. Winners included David Weekly Gary Hickey Andy Cox Greg Lord Edward Smith Greg Fricke David Twisdale and Melvin Twisdale. Michael Hunt forfeit Eddie Armfield won by decision and Mark Oliphant earned a major decision.
Central boys overcame a five point halftime deficit as Steve Younts and James Baldwin fueled a 1 point lead from a late burst. Younts scored 21 with Allen Smith adding 19 and 15 rebounds as Central improved to 2-1 in the Central Carolina Conference. Central travels to Ledford Tuesday.
Trinity Thomasville Junior High boys fell 67 46 as Clifford Morris scored 22 and Benny Pegues 12. Bullpup girls won 55 49 with Gandy leading on 20 points.
The fourth annual Trinity Invitational Wrestling Tournament began in the Bulldog gym with matches continuing through the day and finals set for 8 p.m. Teams and wrestlers from area programs compete for top honors in the Trinity event.

Reggie Logan scored 14 as Portland beat South Carolina 69-68 in the Cable Car Classic opener. Myrt Easley had 21 as Santa Clara beat San Jose State 93-90 in the nightcap. UCLA beat Southern Illinois 90-75, UNLV edged Lamar 89-88, and Syracuse routed Penn State 81-45.
BISON defeated Donnie Marshall with James White earning a forfeit win at 155 pounds. Raiders Mark Venable won by decision at 138, James Bean topped Reginald McLendon at 167, and Wendell Pickett defeated Terry Little at 195. Fleming Bryson and White remain undefeated for Central while Sanders is unbeaten for Andrews as the Bison host Dudley on Tuesday.
