Dag Hammarskjold agreed to face to face discussions with Chinese Premier Chou En Lai in Peiping. He acts within hours of a Chinese cable inviting talks to discuss world peace and international tension. The talks aim to address the case of American fliers jailed and other tensions, with dates to be set after arrangements.
Fifteen PME Thunderstreaks from Langley Air Force Base honored the Wright brothers 51 years after their first powered flight. The flyover at Kill Devil Hills occurred during the Wright Brothers National Monument ceremony with wreaths placed by local surfmen descendants. Notables attended including Rear Adm. Kiland and Maj. Gen. Barnes along with Air Force Association leaders and Jacqueline Cochran.
A Cleveland jury began deliberations on the murder charged headline involving Dr Samuel Sheppard.
