A North Carolina State College study led by Dr Gennard Peters finds that adding essential minerals to an animal diet compensates for phosphorus-deficient forage. Rabbits fed hay from deficient soil worsened growth and bone strength, with deaths, while mineral-supplemented diets yielded better gains.
