French Destroy Towers Of Red Radio In Berlin

French forces blew up the towers of the Soviet controlled radio Berlin to prevent risk to Allied airlift. The action shut down the station temporarily while Germanys Deutschland sender remained as an alternate outlet east of Berlin. Brig Gen Jean Ganeval said demolition was necessary and had notified management earlier.

Supreme Court rules against optometry board in license case

North Carolina high court finds that a spectacle maker need not hold a state optometry license and that the optometry board overstepped. It declares the law creating the board unconstitutional as it regulates the optical trade, not the practice of optometry. The decision preserves a mechanical lens operation by opticians, excluding measurement of vision powers. A separate ruling allows certain taxpayers to be taxed by two states on the same income. Stage Set For Kitty Hawk's Celebration

The 45th anniversary of the Wright brothers first flight will be observed in Kill Devil Hill with an air power display.
