North Carolina Upholstery Club Forms as Schoonbeck Expands
The North Carolina Fabric Men's Club with 50 charter members is organized to promote goodwill among cover salesmen, furniture manufacturers, and upholsterers in the state. Ray Hamlet is president, Bill Bennett VP, with Gene Lawler secretary and John Havendon treasurer. Schoonbeck Co expands into Drake Industrial Park with an 84,000 sq ft plant for machine cabinet and finishing work while upholstery remains at the Ward Street plant.
