A 10,000 gallon pressure fed water tank exploded at Cook's Packing Plant in Concord North Carolina. The top half blew through the air and struck a refrigerated cheese storage building damaging the roof and walls. No injuries were reported and losses are expected to run into thousands of dollars.
An Atlas Able launch attempt to place a 388 pound lunar satellite into orbit was postponed due to technical trouble. The mission aimed to study the moon environment with instruments measuring radiation magnetic fields and micrometeorites during a 60 hour transit. If minor issues are fixed another attempt could occur Thursday with potential further pushes to Saturday or a later window 28 days away.
