Attacks on Ypres and Italian Front Fronts Reported
On December 14 1917 German forces attacked the Ypres front near Polygon Wood driving 300 yards of British trench. Austro German units advanced toward Col CappRile from Col della Berretta in the San Lorenzo Valley. Over five days of operations between the Brenta and the Piave 3000 prisoners were reported captured. A Mexican named A Bergos Giorocho was arrested in Poughkeepsie NY and brought to New York on an enemy alien charge but released after questioning. Mrs K McCormick addressed the National American Woman Suffrage Association in New York warning of German propaganda undermining the food pledge campaign.
