FBI said two men kidnapped Patricia Ann Stroud, locked her in a car trunk, robbed Wachovia Bank & Trust Co. of $4,673, and fled toward Ellerbe before releasing the girl unharmed. The incident followed another trio of bank robberies in the region with suspects linked to multiple cars and a third man.

Fire Kills Mother and Two Children in Reidsville

A kerosene heater left burning overnight caused a house fire in Reidsville. Mrs. Marcine Dunlap Hicks, 23, died with her two sons Randy 5 and Bobby 3, all badly burned. Ed Dunlap, the grandfather, survived but was shocked. Fire officials reported the fire started in the downstairs kitchen and the victims were found at the foot of the stairs. Bodies taken to Ditty's Funeral Home.

Kennedy to review two years in White House on TV

President Kennedy will appear on Monday night to review his first two years in the White House. The hour long taped program will air at 6 30 p m EST on ABC and CBS and at 8 30 p m on NBC. It is produced by a committee of the three networks and titled After Two Years a Conversation with the President.

Tito Backs Soviet Handling Of Crisis

Yugoslav leader Tito addressed the Supreme Soviet and backed Khrushchev's handling of the Cuban crisis. He said Soviet and Yugoslav views align on major international questions. The session approved a large budget and Khrushchev's economic and peaceful coexistence policies. Gromyko outlined continued West negotiation and a potential separate peace with East Germany if others refuse.

Two Deaths Amid NC Cold As Record Lows Persist

The arctic cold grip from a historic North Carolina cold wave caused at least two deaths. In Mount Airy Jack McHone, 58, died in his unheated home, with the coroner citing freezing.
