A late Wednesday earth movement in Quebec near St. Joachim de Tourelle Creek sent four houses tumbling into the St. Lawrence River and damaged a highway bridge. Four men and a couple were pulled from mud as the hillside collapsed into an underground lake, with residents evacuated and air orders carried out during near zero temperatures. Local police and Red Cross reported multiple homes swallowed and others at risk as rescue crews used ski-equipped vehicles through the cold, windy night.
