Ernest Monroe, 37, held without bail in Cabarrus County after a preliminary hearing was set for the murder of John Clarence Turner, 40. Monroe, a paroled convict, allegedly cut Turner's throat and struck him during an argument near a chicken farm and dumped the body into the Rocky River after transporting him to a bridge on Poplar Tent Road. autopsy says Turner drowned and was unconscious when entering the water.
