Federal court takes over Boston school after NAACP ruling
A U.S. District Court judge assumed control of South Boston High administration after a court ruling on integration, amid threats and a firebombing of the NAACP office. The action follows claims of harassment of black students and denial of opportunities, with South Boston High serving about 1,280 students, including 432 black pupils bused from Roxbury and Dorchester.
