Teen-agers Held After 12-Year-Old Sister Is Fatally Shot
In Concord North Carolina Sheriff J B Roberts says charges may be filed against 16 year old Jerry Lee Parnell and 19 year old Mrs Ola May Parnell McCrary after the fatal shooting of 12 year old Mary Parnell. Both teens were held without bond as investigators probe possible accident. The mother said both were at the gun when it discharged at their home and had argued over it earlier. Jerry Lee had previously served at Jackson Training School and was later tracked down two hours after fleeing.

Atlanta AP Aycock the UNC chancellor says integration has worked without problems at North Carolina's university, but he doubts it would apply to Georgia. Silent Squadron keeps growing at Offutt base
The Air Force Strategic Air Command maintains a roster called the Silent Squadron. Every SAC officer or airman killed in a motor vehicle accident is added by the safety division at Offutt Air Force Base. This year the list has grown by 94 names.
