Precaution Calls After Major Northeast Blackout
President Johnson reviewed a 95 page Federal Power Commission report on the November power failure that darkened 30 million people in the United States and Canada. The report cites possible human error at Niagara’s Sir Adam Beck plant and at Consolidated Edison in New York City, notes no sabotage evidence, and urges new safety measures and perhaps legislation to prevent a repeat.

Retired Marion teacher found dead under suspicious circumstances
The badly decomposed body of 68 year old I L Carter, a former Marion senior high School teacher, was found Sunday night at his home. Deputy sheriffs traced a handwritten note on his door to a supposed visit to a Greenville brothel. The State Bureau of Investigation joined the case as an autopsy was ordered and the cause of death determined. Carter’s 1965 car and wallet were missing, and sheriff Frank D Glenn noted extensive blood and heat in the room complicating the scene.

Wright Patman of Texas, and Norman Strunk of the Chicago based league, who argued the Federal Reserve is bailing big banks from liquidity pressure under inflation fight claims.
