Reprieved Gilmore Observes 36th Birthday in Salt Lake City
Convicted killer Gary Mark Gilmore marked his 36th birthday from a new Utah State Prison cell as his execution was delayed by the U S Supreme Court. Officials said a birthday visit from his aunt and uncle was planned but no observance was scheduled. The court's delay could extend to a year or more if it considers the appeal filed by Bessie Gilmore through the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
