County Board Shifts School Plant Insurance to Private Firms
Guilford County Board of Education voted to place about 1,000,000 of the school system plant insurance, now expired, with private insurers instead of the State. The move follows the state’s new entry into school insurance offering a rate near 1.00 for three years, while private firms quote 1.98. A prior private firm proposal offered 1.62 for the expiring 1,000,000 or 2.60 per 100 for five years, converting two thirds of the policy with remaining coverage.
