The 58 nation political committee approved the British plan for a three nation Palestine conciliation commission by 25 to 21 with nine abstentions and three absent. Russia and satellites opposed the method of selecting the commission. The decision sets the commission to be named by the big five powers and excludes binding use of the 1947 partition and Bernadotte report. General assembly vote likely next Tuesday.
