Five Local Men Sentenced In Interstate Cigarette Larceny Case
Five High Point men and two others were sentenced in Greensboro for larceny and receiving four cases of cigarettes stolen from Winston-Salem to Savannah. Defendants received prison terms from one to two years, with one man placed on probation and others given federal sentences in Atlanta, Peeks, Chillicothe, and Petersburg.

Firemen Put Out Two Small Fires This Morning
All seven local fire companies responded to two blazes in the town business district and at a wood plant on South Hamilton street. Four units battled a second story window framing fire at the Nash Building while three stand-by units tackled a wood shaving collector blaze at the Peerless plywood plant. Both incidents were controlled quickly with minor damage reported.

R E Ranson 68 Former Resident Dies In Charlotte
Robert E. Ranson 68, formerly of this city, died in a Charlotte hospital on November 24. Born September 26 1879 at Huntersville he taught in state schools for about 40 years and later worked in insurance. Surviving are his widow two daughters five brothers a sister and two grandchildren. Funeral was held November 25 at Douglas and Sing chapel in Charlotte.
