Three Killed Five Engines Destroyed In Train Crash
COTULLA Texas AP Three crewmen died when a freight train powered by five diesel engines rammed a second train on a siding. Twenty seven cars derailed and five engines were destroyed as fires damaged grain and machinery cars but did not reach explosive chemicals. Two crew members survived, likely in the caboose, as witnesses suggested a misaligned switch or obstruction may have caused the collision. The work train had been in town for repairs, with a lumber yard and hardware store nearby.
