Christmas Plans Debated by Double M Club of YWCA
The Double M Club of the YWCA held its first meeting of the month to set Christmas activities. Guest speaker Rev Thomas Haggai will headline the annual luncheon. members will exchange gifts. A Dec 22 dinner for members and spouses was scheduled along with humorous gifts. Project work includes food baskets for a needy family to be distributed on Christmas Eve. A nominating committee led by Mrs William Webster announced officers for 1960 including Mrs H L Voelkert as president and others at a meeting.

Miss Buddy Poppy Entertains Veterans At Salisbury Hospital
The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 619 announced that Miss Buddy Poppy of 1959 Tommie Townsend of Greensboro will perform for veterans at the Salisbury Veterans Hospital as part of an hour long local talent show. The auxiliary met at the Post Home on Greensboro Road and donated to the VFW National Memorial Building Fund.

Fifteen high school students who completed Red Cross training will be capped as Junior Red Cross Aides in an 8 p.m. ceremony at Emerywood Baptist Church. The public is invited to attend and a wide comment in the area will follow according to Red Cross officials.

The newly organized Mebane Garden Council joined the High Point Garden Council for a joint meeting at the High Point Public Library.
