Growth slows as High Point faces capped funding fate
High Point gained about 1,796 residents in five years, a rise that worsens its share of federal and state funds. State projections set population at 64,990, below the Planning Department’s 66,000 estimate, affecting gasoline tax and other allocations. City officials cite annexation limits and sewage capacity as barriers to growth, noting Greensboro's stronger gains and countywide trends toward rural expansion.
