Press and President Clash Over Watergate Coverage
The piece notes the press’s reluctance to challenge the President during Watergate. Alfred Baldwin, a Watergate raider, said he and colleagues did not view their acts as criminal, a claim largely ignored by papers. CBS’s Daniel Schorr and Dan Rather later questioned White House silence and the lack of direct accountability.
