Remedial Programs Inadequate Across UNC System
A 526 page study by the Research Triangle Institute for the UNC Board of Governors finds many campuses offer only partial remedial support for academically unprepared students. It ranks Appalachian, East Carolina, Pembroke, NC Central, Western Carolina, and Winston-Salem State as having good programs while NC A&T and NC State are weaker. UNC Chapel Hill faces the sharpest critique with a culture of declining remedial effort.
