Elegant Furniture Created By Mountain-Loving Designer
Carolyn Kinemann profiles Glenn G. Whit Her of Hibriten Chair Co in Lenoir, a designer blending private rustic passion with high end decorator pieces. Weekday work spans Empire benches to modern vanity stools, with finish options from claret to ebony and fabrics from velvets to silks. Whitier moved from Wooster Ohio to North Carolina in the 1940s, joined Hibriten in 1951, and earned a 1960 Mahogany Award for a French Provincial group. He enjoys family picnics along winding mountain roads after market periods.
