Legislation Aims to Draft 18 19 Year Olds in 77th Congress
Washington August 27 AP Draft legislation to allow 18 and 19 year olds to enlist topped a program proposed for the 77th Congress by House Rules committee Chairman Dan Sabath. He said Congress would likely approve this session to permit 18 and 19 year olds to be drafted. Sabath praised the 18 group as strong material for the armed forces. He noted labor and farm bills and a few minor measures may also be considered. He warned against obstructing passage with labor disputes and suggested deferment of tax relief for war contractors.
