Soil conservation work proves profitable to farmer and nation
The article argues that federal soil conservation programs yield real profits for farmers and citizens. It highlights a Randolph county farm example, Swiggett, showing how a rotation of corn, small grain, and lespedera plus contouring and pastureland restored soil and created a clear lake with increased hay and livestock gains. It emphasizes government support in lime and seed, and envisions reduced hay imports as the program expands.
