Greatest Agreement Yet Sets Retail Wages and Hours

The new retail code outlines maximum weekly hours and minimum wages across city sizes. It sets 40 to 48 hour work weeks with overtime pay and exempts executives, pharmacists, certain professionals, outside sales, and delivery staff from stricter limits. It also allows a three week 48 hour cap every six months.

New federal wage code sets regional minimums and hours

The code anchors minimum wages by region with 20 percent boosts from 1933 levels and caps at 10 to 11 dollars per week. It allows 2 to 4 dollar reductions for junior and apprentice workers and excludes prison labor. White side says the code will be presented to Roosevelt for approval within a week and takes effect one week after signing.
