Pope is given prison term in Thomasville murder case
Willie Mae Pope former servant of Thomasville Mayor George L Handley was sentenced to from 10 to 20 years in prison for the pistol slaying of 17 year old Deloris Davis on June 13 in Davidson County Superior Court Judge W H Burgwyn imposed the sentence after a short trial. Pope allegedly confronted Davis at 7 30 a m and fired two shots when the girl opened the door. Davis died instantly.
