Washington AP report notes the General Accounting Office said Saturday that government programs tested the fuel economy of various vehicles and analyzed the results to assist policy decisions.
In Atlanta AP report Postmaster General B T Klassen told postal supervisors that unauthorized absenteeism cost the U S Postal Service nearly 209 million dollars in fiscal 1974 and warned of possible rate increases without congressional subsidies. He cited abuse of sick leave and projected a deficit over 400 million dollars in fiscal 1975 due to higher fuel costs and salaries.
A sightseeing helicopter exploded off Daytona Beach injuring a teen girl and two men. The pilot and another man were missing and feared dead. Witnesses said the craft disintegrated as it fell about 200 feet from shore after taking off from a recreational pier. Surfers pulled the girl from the water and she was rushed to a hospital unconscious.
