Autopsy Case To Be Studied By Judge In Pa
A Pa judge took under advisement a bid by District Attorney Edmund Dinis of Massachusetts to obtain an autopsy on Mary Joe Kopechne's body. The move could end hopes of presenting autopsy results at her Edgartown inquest set for Sept. 3. Kopechne drowned on Chappaquiddick Island after a car driven by Senator Edward Kennedy plunged off a bridge. She is buried in Larksville. The defense argued lack of Pennsylvania jurisdiction since no crime occurred there. The judge will rule within 48 hours on the motion to dismiss and on scheduling further hearings.

Guns and Trucks Flown To Saigon Camp By US Planes
US Air Force transports flew 18 armored personnel carriers and six antitank guns to Bu Dop Special Forces camp 80 miles north of Saigon after advice that enemy armored columns were heard near the Cambodian border. Attacks dropped 44 percent in a week but remained 68 percent above the year’s low, with officials predicting renewed pressure around Sept. 1. The White House paused troop withdrawal decisions amid rising assaults as US analysis notes North Vietnamese infiltration and manpower to replace losses if chosen.
