Four U S advisers killed in Viet Nam ambush near Tre

Capt Byron Stone of Mobile Alabama First Lt William Ragin of Arlington Virginia Lt James Coyle of Rockville Maryland and Sgt Tom Ward of Fayetteville North Carolina and their unit were ambushed near Ben Tre in the 7th Division area. The four advisers died amid a savage firefight that left 206 casualties. The incident highlighted the vulnerability of Vietnamese units and the craft of Viet Cong ambushes.
