President Eisenhower said the United States would suspend nuclear weapons tests for one year from Oct 31 if the Soviet Union keeps its current test ban and agrees to negotiate toward a permanent ban. Britain also signaled readiness to join under the same conditions.
Denmark barred the U S atomic submarine Skate from docking in Copenhagen after guidance from the Danish Atomic Energy Commission and Niels Bohr cited radiation risk in a harbor collision. Norway welcomed the submarine in Bergen where it will stop before Oslo and Copenhagen.
Iceland warns it may withdraw from NATO if Britain fails to curb foreign fishing near its coast. The 12 mile ban will replace the current four mile limit on Sept. 1, as talks in Paris and London seek a compromise between Iceland and Britain amid U S pressure reports.
Gov. Faubus kept legislators standing by for a possible emergency session as the Central High School integration case loomed. A new 30 day stay from the 8th Circuit allows time for a fresh appeal, while NAACP seeks Supreme Court action before fall term begins.

The Senate trims a three point five billion dollar foreign aid proposal while the House considers six billion dollars in assorted new appropriations. President Eisenhower had vetoed an earlier civil service retirement fund payment. The target adjournment remains tomorrow night.
