Seabees Rebuild Cherbourg Structures in Record Time
Seabees arrived in Cherbourg with Admiral Wilkes and rebuilt a shell shattered hospital in seven days. Sailors from the battalion converted a damaged building into barracks and set up hot and cold showers, barber shops, and ships service stores for over a thousand crew. They worked fourteen hours daily to restore essential facilities while repairing and wiring, earning a reputation: Call the Seabees, they’ll know how to do it.
