Mount Zion Pilgrim Church in Thomasville received two awards at the North Carolina District Sunday School Convention of Pilgrim Holiness Church held August 5 at Southern Pilgrim College in Kernersville. Attendance reached 247, and the church also won the Decade of Progress trophy as the outstanding Sunday school in North Carolina for seven years. W. T. Thompson is superintendent and Rev. J. B. Stutts is pastor.

Whitener To Speak On Sunday At Local Church
Dr. Sterling Whitener, longtime Hong Kong missionary since 1952, will speak at First Congregational Christian Church United Church of Christ on Sunday at 10 30 a m. The address is 180 Chestnut Drive. Whitener and his wife Barbara Brown of Salisbury are Catawba College graduates and he earned degrees at Yale Divinity School Yale University and UNC. He holds a Doctor of Divinity from Catawba College conferred in 1965. The Whiteners recently returned to the United States and reside in Salisbury with three children, two older children pursuing schooling here.
