High Point Board Raises School Lunch Prices Five Cents
The High Point City Board of Education voted unanimously to raise plate lunch prices by five cents for the coming year. Costs for basic foods have risen, salaries increased, and the district faces a shortage of cafeteria workers as it weighs options including continuing with the federal lunch program. The nickel hike sets prices at 35 cents for elementary, 40 cents for junior high, and higher a la carte senior high items, with potential offset via ice cream sales.
