Three Soldiers Wounded In London Race Riot
In downtown London early today, two white American soldiers and a Negro soldier were injured in street fighting between whites and Negroes. An army spokesman reported a head wound for the Black soldier and no arrests were made. Scotland Yard said five participants were involved, with 28 people reportedly removed by police. WEATHERFORD Texas Aug 18 14 airmen were killed in the crash of two heavy bombers RB 29 and a B 32 over the town last night. Two survivors a flight officer and a B 29 crewman said they did not know what happened. Parachutes opened and survivors floated to safety as blazing wreckage and flares lit the sky for miles. Hundreds of witnesses saw the crash.
