California halts sale of big Chrysler cars in state
California Air Resources Board ordered a stop sale on about 1000 1975 Chrysler New Yorker Newport Imperial Monaco Gran Fury and Gran Fury Brougham models with 440 engines and fined the company 328200 for smog control violations. The action bars sales starting Monday and may strip dealers of licenses. Chrysler says the issue is not a design fault but poor assembly line quality control.
