North Carolina Eyes School Board Overhaul Plan

A proposed constitutional amendment would streamline public school administration by abolishing multiple boards and creating a single state board of education. It would replace the current ex officio setup with a three ex officio members plus one appointee from each congressional district, aiming for a simpler, centralized system. The measure faces the November 3 electorate, with supporters and opponents outlining past governance issues and potential benefits.
