Saratoga Springs New York August 15 AP Peter Barrie alleged by private detectives to run a race track ring of international notoriety and three companions today rearraigned charged with attempted theft of a race horse Easy Salling Barrie who gave no address was held without bail.

Wounded by buckshot from a policeman's gun Lowell Massie and Roland Earl Allen, both sought for murder, were captured in Nelson county after a night vigil. They were pulled from the Piney river and brought to Lynchburg hospital. Massie may die. The pair fled from officers after a card game tip led to a mountain hideout.
Lawrence M. Pinceney announces the arrest of Bartley B. McEntire of Cayce as the first move to prosecute NRA violators in the state. McEntire heads Capital City Casket Company. warrant cites seven code violations including price cutting and non posting of wages. The case follows a referral from the local code authority to Washington and then to state action.
In West Jefferson on August 5 the F. E. Bare family at Nathans Creek escaped a blaze that destroyed their house. They were left without garments or shelter, fleeing in their night clothes.
