New York Public Library Solves Paper Preservation Plan
After seven years and funded by three New York dailies, the New York Public Library unveils a method to preserve old newspapers by mounting each sheet between two sheets of thin Japanese tissue. The method, costing publishers about $35 to $46 per bound volume, uses imported Japanese tissue and may extend to old books.
