O Herron outlines plan to cut state payroll
Democratic candidate O Herron proposed trimming 4500000 from the 3.4 billion budget and a productivity bonus plan for state workers. He said cuts would target the Commerce Department and Revenue Department, with further savings from a part time lieutenant governor role. The piece notes other candidates proposals and reactions from Labor groups and civil rights leaders.
