N C Doctors To Build New Face For Bolivia Boy
Virgilio Pinto of Bolivia will receive serious plastic surgery at Duke Hospital in Durham funded by a Tar Heel doctors volunteer mission and North Carolinian contributions. The four to six hour operation aims to remove an overgrowth of blood vessels from his face and throat, an effort deemed not malignant but congenital to prevent brain spread and death. Virgilio was greeted at Raleigh Durham Airport by Dr. James Branham and Richard Griffin who had met him in Trinidad two years earlier.
