Touring public approves roadside parks and picnic tables as the highway department expands sites from Camden to Jackson counties. By July 1951 four parks existed with 49 picnic tables. six more parks started in 1952 and several under construction. State parks attendance climbs to about 1.5 million in 1952.

Valuable Dog Shot In San Pedro
San Pedro waitress Dorothy Vander Pol reported a large Bouvier des Flandres shot to death. The 150 pound dog valued at 1500 dollars was one of about 60 of the breed in the United States. Vander Pol had fed her three dogs after going hungry to care for them. The incident was reported to police.
