Dow Rises on Technical Rally After Sharp Losses
The Dow Jones industrial average rebounded 2.60 to 882.02 by noon as gains outweighed losses 6-5 among NYSE issues. Analysts saw no strong news driving the move, noting bargain hunting after a 50 point Dow drop since June, with NYSE short interest at a record 32.29 million shares. Twentieth Century Fox led active lists, up 1.44 to 254 amid box office success of Star Wars.
