The Works Progress Administration released a report noting more needy unemployed received direct relief in March this year than March 1935. The WPA estimates 1 930 000 families and single persons on direct relief, plus 3 751 600 with federal work relief jobs, totaling 5 681 000 cases, compared with 5 463 690 in March 1935.
