Police Chief Receives Food Stamps After Salary Cut
Carlisle Iowa AP Police Chief Don Porter began receiving food stamps after the city council reduced his salary from 9000 to 2.25 an hour and later refused to set a new salary. Porter says he did not quit and was reappointed by the mayor, leaving the council unable to pay him. His family depends on his wife’s Des Moines printing job and savings.
