Alligator Hides Trap Brothers In Louisiana Hunt
Trappers in Southwest Louisiana could gain by a $1 million alligator hide market next year if the alligator is downgraded to threatened status in three coastal parishes. Harvey and Robert Kliebert, who raise alligators in Tangipahoa Parish, face limits as federal rules clash with state hopes for a hunt. The bureau recommended loosening restrictions, but license access and interstate sales remain blocked for now.

All Outdoors Operating A Fish Camp Still Fun For English
A year after taking over Canal Motel and Restaurant at the Santee Cooper lakes in South Carolina, June English says running the camp remains enjoyable and has expanded to deer hunting. The deer season runs August 15 to January 1 with hunts available any day. Stripers are active on Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie, mostly 2 to 7 pounds with some to 12, best on the surface during overcast days. Non residents should apply for hunting permits early as only 7,000 game management permits will be issued. Coastal fishing notes report Spanish mackerel along the shore from Morehead City to Cape Lookout and Drum Inlet flounders. New motors from Johnson and Evinrude and Chrysler outboards with sailboat auxiliaries are highlighted.

A Blue Marlin Is Blue Marlin
Dr Fulton Katz of Wheaton Maryland landed a 1128 pound blue marlin off Hatteras in June challenging IGFA practice of separate Atlantic and Pacific blue marlin records. The catch follows Jack Herrington's 1142 pound IGFA all tackle record from Oregon Inlet, nearby, raising questions about Makaira nigricans populations across oceans.

Ol Yeller Surprises Angler on Winnipeg River Expedition
Charlottean seafood hunter R K Harris and Billy Westmoreland filmed on Canada's Winnipeg River when Ol Yeller, a 40 pound Great Northern Pike, leaped near Bird Island. The crew witnessed a second such airborne strike, prompting Harris to admit disbelief at the extraordinary event and recalling a prior Juniper Lake sighting. The trip yielded notable bass and walleye catches and a dramatic splash that shook the boat.
