Army induction lists five feet height and weights by age, basic training shedding weight. Other items explain souvenir pens for presidents, Sinatra and Ava Gardner ties, and public records access.
A mob of about 300 Indonesian youths assaulted the Chinese Embassy in Jakarta, wrecked windows, and set fires. Chinese inside fired, wounding three youths and a soldier. the charge d affaires claimed Chinese injuries and denied firing. Roughly 100 soldiers later restored order as the crisis unfolded.
Dr. Reid Garrett 66, a Rockingham dentist, is creating a three story junk house on U S 1 over sandy banks. He uses scrap lumber and found stone with a homemade water wheel. He funds the project from tooth money and expects ongoing additions as long as it amuses him.

Reverend J Paschall Davis defends his Nashville poverty agency over a school accused of teaching anti white hatred, acknowledging past mistakes.
Rev. Davis, Nashville Metropolitan Action Commission head, warned Senate committee that poverty program must be well run to curb riots while defending his agency’s lack of funding for a so called Liberation School led by Fred H. Brooks. Police testified $7,700 in federal funds support the school.
Former President Dwight D. Eisenhower, aged 76, was rushed by helicopter from his Gettysburg farm to Walter Reed Hospital on Saturday. He arrived in pajamas and bathrobe, assisted by a hospital aide, with officials not releasing details of his ailment.
Kathryn Nisbet a 45 year old aviatrix and wife of a North Carolina industrialist died Friday night when her twin engine Beechcraft apparently was struck by lightning and crashed into a Lancaster home. Two passengers Lewis Ahlborn and Barbara his wife also perished. Ground injuries were avoided as wreckage scattered. the crash occurred near Aero Plantation en route from Danbury to Waxhaw NC.
