Public housing unit left wrecked by departing family

High Point Housing Authority catalogues a Carson Stout unit at 449 Meredith as uninhabitable after seven occupants left amid extensive damage. Fumigation and wall to wall renovation are needed, with bids estimated at 3500 to 4000 dollars. Law Enforcement Explorers Train As Future Officers

High Point starts a Police Dept sponsored Explorers troop open to ages 15 to 21. Twelve members meet twice monthly at the Police Academy on Riverdale Road learning safety, investigations, and laws while volunteering for non enforcement tasks like bicycle registration and building crime prevention directories. The program, which costs the department nothing, relies on car washes and donations for uniforms and activities. It serves public relations and early exposure to police work, leading toward the police cadet program for those who meet requirements.
