Professor Will Attend Workshop at UNC Charlotte
Dr E Roy Epperson of High Point College will join Operation Interface at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Tuesday through Friday. Death by Own Action Ruled In Shooting Death
Snow Hill North Carolina AP. Donald Joyner about 40, a former mental patient, was found dead in a cornfield near his Greene County home. A Greene County sheriff's spokesman said Joyner was shot in the head with a .32 caliber pistol after reportedly drawing a pistol and fleeing a neighbor’s house as family members tried to talk him into Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro. He had been missing since leaving the house.

Conservation group to meet in Raleigh on Bald Head Island plan
Members of a specialized corporation formed to raise funds for Bald Head Island preservation will meet in Raleigh in mid August to map strategy. Gilliam K. Horton, chairman of the Board of Conservation and Development, said the group has contacted Nature Conservancy for guidance on land purchase and preservation efforts. The island, valued at about five million dollars, faces development pressure from private interests seeking a luxury resort. The group is also eyeing other conservation projects in North Carolina such as the Great Dismal Swamp and Masonboro Island.
